Right now, your brain is producing a complex mix of electrical patterns — different frequencies firing simultaneously across billions of neurons. This composite signal is what an EEG records.

Delta waves — the deepest

The slowest brainwaves, rolling like ocean swells. Delta dominates during deep, dreamless sleep — the state where your body heals and regenerates. Too much delta during waking hours can signal fatigue or brain injury.

Theta waves — the dreamers

Present during meditation, daydreaming, and light sleep. Theta is where creativity and intuition live. It's also the frequency associated with processing emotional experiences — which is why it matters in trauma work.

Alpha waves — calm focus

The "Goldilocks" wave. Alpha indicates a relaxed but alert state — calm focus without anxiety. This is often the target in neurofeedback training. When your brain produces strong alpha, you feel present, grounded, and at ease.

Beta waves — active thinking

Fast and dense, beta waves dominate when you're actively thinking, problem-solving, or concentrating. Too much beta — especially high beta — is associated with anxiety, overthinking, and the "I can't turn my brain off" feeling.

Gamma waves — peak cognition

The fastest brainwaves, associated with higher-order thinking, learning, and information processing. Gamma waves are subtle but powerful — they help bind different brain regions together into coherent perception.

What neurofeedback trains

Neurofeedback helps your brain shift from dysregulated patterns — too much beta (anxiety), too much theta (brain fog) — toward a balanced state dominated by calm alpha. Your brain literally learns to hold this pattern on its own.

The feedback loop

During a session, sensors read your brainwaves in real-time. When your brain produces the target pattern, the movie you're watching stays bright and clear. When it drifts, the screen dims slightly. Your brain naturally seeks the reward — and over 20–40 sessions, the new pattern becomes your default.

You sit in a comfortable chair in a quiet room. Normal clothing, no preparation needed.
